This week we will continue to work on measurement in Math. This is a longer topic and we will not be testing on it until next week. Be sure to continue to work on multiplication facts, this is very important to third grade math success.
In Language Arts, we will be doing all the skills from the story, but we will be reading a different story that aligns with the Common Core Standards. We will be doing this every other week or so, to be sure our students get the best education possible. This week will be a lot of focused reading and writing according to the text. We will also begin learning our third type of writing: informative.
Over the past week, several parents have run into some issues accessing the website to work on taking the practice test for the Smarter Balance Assessment. Here are a few pointers: this works best on an actual computer or laptop. The website does not support Internet Explorer, I have found that Safari, Fire Fox, and Google Chrome all seem to work. Let me know if you run into any issues and I will try my best to trouble shoot the problem.
Finally, next week is Read Across America Week. We have something special going on every day of the week. Be sure to post the paperwork that went home on your fridge so that you know what is going on each day. Also, if you are interested in reading a Dr. Seuss book to our class on the morning of Wed, March 5, let me know.
