I want to start out by congratulating our students of the month, Emily and Ortzi!
This past week we learned the basics of long division. The class had a very hard time with this concept, and I'm finding this is due to the students not knowing their basic Multiplication facts. If your child has not passed their 3 or 4 facts in our weekly timed test, they will struggle with most of what we will be learning. Since we are not ready to test on long division, we will revisit this topic later. Meanwhile, we are going to be working on units of measurement for the next 2 weeks. Starting this past week, we will be going to the Computer Lab to practice the Smarter Balance test every other Thursday. This is the test that will replace the CST. We will be taking the pilot test this year, but we will not receive scores. This test is completely on online, and we will be working as much as possible to prepare them. I encourage you to have your child practice at home, this will allow you to also see what the test will be like. Go to https://sbacpt.tds.airast.org/student log in as guest, choose grade 3, then choose any of the six test options, and press start test. I will put this link on the website page for easy access. I also want to address the fact that several viruses are going around the class. One is a stomach bug that lasts 36-48 hours, the other is a cold that includes a congested cough that lasts about a week, both run slight fevers. We have at least 2 out per day with one of the two bugs. Remind your child to cover their cough, wash their hands often, and keep them
