In math we tested on what we have learned so far. This week we will be building on the basics of multiplication and start to use 2-digit numbers. If your child is still stuck on learning their 3 or 4 facts, please start to study so that they can get these down.
We have finished our work with light in Science, and have moved on to matter. Since the light chapter was so short, I am sending home the quiz to take, books may be used to do this.
Over the past few weeks, I have been giving different comprehension tests. These tests are in align with the new standards. The tests ask questions that are more about the story, and not so much about what they think. This is new for the class, so scores are not going to be as good, and I will not be using them towards report card grades until I see they are starting to get the hang of the new standards. Both in comprehension and math, standards require students to explain their reasoning and use evidence from the text.
