This week is just as busy, and short by one day!
We will begin to read the first chapter of "Because of Winn-Dixie." If you are planning on purchasing the book, we will be reading chapter one on Tuesday. We are also finishing our last personal narrative in writing before we move on to informational writing. Students are working on telling what they did for New Year's Eve/Day.
In Math, we are going to be working on equivalent fractions. We will be making fractions strips that they will be taking home and can use to help with homework. Knowing factors and multiples is important, so keep practicing division and multiplication at home.
We will be working on some projects on Google classroom and other Google programs for the rest of the semester. Students are given an email by the district and this is what allows them to get into the programs we will be using. It is important that students have these memorized along with their passwords. They should have this written in their planner, I would appreciate you working with your child to have this memorized.
In the next few weeks I will be assigning a book report for a biography. I am going to send home book order forms this week, one being all biographies. Use this to help find a book on someone your child will be interested in reading about. The book should be about 1 person and be a chapter book.
Lastly, I will be sending home low grade notices this Friday in place of progress reports. If you have been signing tests and progress reports there shouldn't be any surprises. Also, I have finished middle of the year TRC Reading tests and will be happy to let you know your child's score and the Lexile level they should be reading at.
