Our field trip to the UCLA Stunt Ranch Preserve was a success! We were introduced to 3 different plant communities, saw up close and personal some of the plants that we studied for reports, and learned about the way the Chumash Natives used natural resources. Here are some pictures from our trip:
In math, we are finishing up the rest of our multiplication tables, and will be testing on them on Friday. Start to drill your child with flash cards, or whatever way you wish, so that they can memorize these tables.
This week is our last week for our Life Science Unit. We are finishing up by learning how animals adapt to their environment. I also sent home the plant life cycle tests. If you saw an Interview score, that grade is what was recorded for the test, if it was better than the original score.
Thursday is Halloween, and a minimum day (12:58 dismissal). We will be having a costume parade around 12:15 on the playground. Students who want to participate in wearing a costume must follow some rules:
1. Costume must come to school in a bag.
2. It is still a regular dress day.
3. Costumes should be able to be put on over clothes without assistance.
4. No weapons.
5. No makeup, masks, or any parts that cover the face.
We will not be having a party, however, if you want to send something for you child to pass out, please be mindful of allergies.
I have sent out papers to those who have not already scheduled a conference appointment with me. Please return these as soon as possible, as most dates and times are already filling up. I will be sending appointment confirmation letters home this week. Conferences start next week!
Finally, I want to say congratulations to Reva and Keyawn, our Students of the Week.
