On Wednesday, we will be doing our pumpkin math activity. Please be sure your child has a pumpkin that day so they might participate, this is not a Halloween activity. Parents that plan to be there to help, we will need help with setting up by covering tables with paper, cutting open pumpkins, and getting everything cleaned up before the end of school. I do have some safety pumpkin carving knives that can be used.
Thursday we will participate in a chat with the astronauts in the International Space Station. We were one of a select few chosen to be a part of this chat. We plan on our discussion starting around 1:00, try not to pull your child out early so they don't miss out on this opportunity.
This Friday we will have a school costume parade. If you do not want your child to participate, please let me know. Costumes should come to school in a bag. Students should be able to put them on themselves over their school clothes. Makeup, masks, and weapons are not allowed. Parade should start around 1:30. Parents and siblings are welcome, students must be signed out at the classroom afterwards.
Book reports have been impressive this round, students seemed to have chosen great books! In class we are working on group projects, students may need to bring supplies from home to work on them. Over the weekend they should have studied for our Science test on Rocks and Minerals. We will also be taking a Math test on Chapter 4 on Tuesday.
Conference sign up sheets will be going out to those I have not scheduled yet. I have very few spots left, so be sure to return the slips as soon as possible.
