Due to the amount of extra activities, we have been going light on how much work we are trying to get in. Plus, we know the students are starting to get restless, and many will be out. With that in mind, we only did half of our story for last week, and will finish it up this week. This will change homework a bit, be sure to check planners and the homework page.
I also sent home the Unit 3 project, a biography report. Students must pick a person from the back of the paper to do a report on. I only gave this out for those that would like to work on it over the break. Otherwise, you have until the beginning of February to get this done, no rush. I did not give guiding questions this time, I want students to find important information on their own. Then they are to put it into 1 of the 4 choices of Thinking Maps. The picture of the person should be the focal point with their name, birthday, and death date. Here is an example of what a project with a 4 grade would look like:
Another activity happening this Wednesday is our class party. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly on what you would like to send, and who is willing to come help. My only issue is that most signed up for Ziploc bags, knives, plates, and napkins. Since I only need one person for each of these I will be sending a confirmation note letting you know what you are bringing, or asking you to bring something that no one signed up for. Thank you for understanding in this matter. All parents who offered to help will be welcomed to come.
A quick reminder to turn in all Library Books by the end of this week. No books are to be checked out over the break.
Be sure to wear solid Red, Green, White, or Navy Blue tops on Wednesday and Thursday for performances. Beanies and Santa hats are encouraged, as well as scarves (no gloves). Girls may wear festive dresses in the above colors. Performance times are: Wed @ 10:45, Thurs @ 8:30 and 1:15.
Another reminder that I will not be assigning any homework over the break (aside from some reading). If you would like your child to work on a packet for some practice over the break, you must let me know by Thursday.
Finally, I want to thank Cherry and Ortzi for donating books from the Book Fair to our class. Also, congratulations to Stephanie and Abelardo, our two recent Student of the Month recipients.
