This past Friday, I sent home the first of the Weekly Progress Reports. I had discussed this at Back to School Night, and the students were made aware of them well ahead of time. You can expect to see these every Friday, making you aware of your child's progress in the academics, behavior, homework, or anything else you need to know. Please sign these and make sure they come back to me. You should find them stapled to their Homework Planners.
The Envision Math website has been updated and a paper will be sent home so that you can log on and get access to the student books and interactive program. You will also be getting Scholastic book order forms. On the form you will find an access code so that if you would like to order online you can do so. If you would like to fill out the form and send me the money you can do so as well. Book orders are due Monday, September 23.
I have noticed that Comprehension Test scores are not where I would like them to be. Tuesdays I will be assigning comprehension practice. Please have your child underline where in the story they got their answer. Often times they get the question wrong because they did not take their time to read the question and go back to be sure their answer is correct.
Many students have been coming to me saying they have lost their spelling lists. I normally would discuss the responsibility of keeping things organized so as not to lose things, but I am finding that we need some extra practice with organization. So, I will be posting the spelling and vocabulary words on the homework page of the website, just to be sure they can get their homework done. However, I only plan to do this for this first semester. They should be working on becoming more responsible for their homework.
Lastly, a big "Great Job!" to Joel and Jenna who received the Student of the Month Award at our Awards Assembly.
