The class went on their field trip on Wednesday. I was unable to attend because my doctor will not allow me to stand or walk for very long. From the amount the class talked about it, the seemed to have a great time. As soon as I get the pictures, I will post them.
This week we will be taking the district performance task on Math and Writing. There is no way of sending a study guide, this is a cold test, meaning they haven't been prepared for it ahead of time. These test will be used the way the CST scores used to, to help place into the next year's class. It is important that students work hard and try their best.
We will also be presenting science projects this week. For a project to be sent to the Science Fair and judged for NASA night, the project must earn a solid grade of 4. Projects will be sent home the day they are presented, unless chosen to be judged.
Last week students took their spell-a-thon quiz, they took them home on Friday so they can collect the money the got pledged. Money is due on Friday, May 23. Students also took home a paper explaining the third grade picnic. Permission needs to be given to participate by returning the paper sent home. We are also asking for $6 donation per student to help cover the cost of all the food. Please send those as soon as possible.
This week we will be learning about money, but this is a 4th grade standard. We will also be having a test in Science on the Sun, Moon, and Stars.
Finally, you will be receiving a letter explaining the need to find a new home for our crayfish, Mike. As I'm sure your child has already discussed with you the situation, I want you to be aware of all of the logistics. If you are willing to give him a home, please return the tear off. If more than one family is interested, I will pull a name from a hat.
