In Math we continue to learn about standard or customary units of measurement and converting units. We will end this chapter this week with a test on Friday. Following this we will do a quick visit of perimeter and area, before taking the SBAC. Majority of the test will be on adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying greater numbers, as well as fractions and decimals.
In Language Arts we finished our novel study and begin our integrated unit on Biomes. We will be using our Treasures Anthology to read some non-fiction articles about animal and plant adaptations. Students will be working in groups to present information specific to their assigned biome. This will run for the next 6 weeks.
This past week was our last week of art, this week we will begin music. Open house is coming up in a few weeks and we do have a project that will need some empty paper towel tubes. Not every student needs to bring one in, but if you are able to, I would appreciate the help in our project supplies.
On a personal note: As I am sure you have already been informed by your child, I am expecting my second child. I am due mid-October, which currently puts me a little over 3 months. I did have a rough first trimester, especially with a toddler who does not understand everything going on. I do expect to finish out the year without any issue, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
