When we return on Tuesday, we will be having Psychomotor. Book reports with created Word Searches on a Historical or Realistic Fiction book are due as well. We are also starting Chapter 11 in Math on Standard Measurements. Students have been exposed to this before in third grade, but we will be converting measurements this year (eg: how many inches in 3 feet).
Wednesday is about our only "normal" day this week. We will be finishing the last chapter of our novel Because of Winn-Dixie. There will be a final on the novel next week, as well as getting to view the movie with room 9. Permission slips for the movie will be going home this week.
On Thursday, we have our field trip to the Huntington Library. I will notify those parents who have been chosen to chaperon the trip on Tuesday. Students need to wear comfortable walking shoes, school uniform, and pre-applied sun screen. Students need to bring a lunch in a disposable sack, backpacks will not be needed. Cameras, money, electronics, books, journals, etc. are not needed on the trip.
This Friday, we start our last unit in Science. Our Life Science will begin with the observation of live animals. Students are expected to show respect for life and treat them accordingly. Science Fair proposals are due this day, but will be accepted any time beforehand. Remember that this is a required project and will make up a large part of their Science grade on the final report card. Students will get their proposals back by next Monday/Tuesday.
Thank you to those who attended the silent auction and bid on our basket and art work. Even more so, thank you to those who supported our performance, the fourth graders did an excellent job and the teachers are very proud of their enthusiasm.
