Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your letters of kind words, flowers, gifts, and supplies. I most certainly feel appreciated for my work with the class. However, I find my students' growth and moments of "ah-ha" to be the most rewarding part of my job! Also, a thank you to all of you who work with your child at home, you are their teacher as well.
This week is a crazy week with getting ready for Open House! We will not be doing a story from our unit this week. With Ms. Klugh continuing to work with us on a special writing project, and shortened days, I didn't feel we would really be able to focus on the story. We will be working on reviewing math skills and preparing for the next grade. This week we will be able to visit the Computer Lab again, we get to have 2 weeks of computer time before the end of the year. This Friday will be our last visit to Science Lab, which means a test is near for Sun, Moon, and Stars.
This Thursday is our Open House. I encourage you to come and see what we have been learning. The class has been working hard to show off the work they have done. Pizza dinner and Book Fair will open at 5:00, classrooms will be open from 6:00 to 7:30. I hope to see you there!
This Wednesday we will be able to visit the book fair in the Library. Students may bring money to purchase books and other items. This would be a great opportunity to stock up on summer reading books. If you would like your child to participate in a summer reading challenge to help prevent the "summer slip" let me know and I can sign them up with Scholastic. It is a program to help set a record for summer reading.
Finally, I want to thank those that chaperoned our field trip this last Wednesday. I am sure you heard all about our trip to the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. We were able to meet with a judge in the Superior Court Judge's courtroom, watch a trial in progress, sit in seats and see a judge's chambers, and try out a judge's chair in a dark courtroom. All of these judges took time out of their busy schedule to stop and talk to us. They were very kind and taught us a lot! This is my favorite field trip!
