This week we get back to our normal schedule. This will be our last week for psychomotor this year. We also have Science Fair projects due and a field trip this week.
In Language Arts, we will be reading the last story for Unit 5. We will not be going on to Unit 6 as we only have a few weeks left. Our spelling words this week are the words for the Spell-A-thon, we have 30 words to work on. Spell-A-thon is this Friday, in place of our normal spelling test.
In Math we reviewed Topic 16 for Standard Measurement and the class did much better. This week we will be reviewing Topic 17 for Metric Units of Measurement. We will be retesting as well on Friday.
Science Fair projects are due this Tuesday! Presentations will not be made until next week, but projects need to be turned in on time. Be sure to include the rubric with the project for grading and judging.
This Wednesday is our field trip to the Courthouse and City Hall. I am allowed to take 2 parents with me and will be sending home notes to those parents chosen. If you are packing your child's lunch, remember to put it into a sack that can be thrown away and remember there will be no refrigeration. Students need to wear comfortable walking shoes and school dress code. As we will have to go through security, please make sure that backpacks stay home and all electronics do not happen to find their way into any pockets. Our tour of the Courthouse starts at 9:30 and we will be able to see a trial in progress, wonder a empty courtroom and meet a judge. At 11:00 we will start our tour at City Hall and may be able to meet our district Council member. As we have been studying the branches of government in Social Studies this is a great opportunity for the class to witness the legislative and judicial branch in progress.
School Library books are now due, please be sure to check to make sure your child has turned in all books or have paid lost book fines. I cannot release report cards until these issues have been cleared.
Now that we have come to the end of the year, I will no longer be requiring tests to be returned signed. I will still send them home on Wednesdays, but you may keep them from now on.
Finally, I want to thank all of those who were able to attend Open House this past Thursday. Your involvement in your child's education makes a difference on their attitude towards school. We had almost 100% attendance, which explains why so many of my students work so hard in school. Thank you for making education a priority!
