This week is filled with fun! On Wednesday, we will be going on another field trip to the Chumash Cultural Center. Students need to wear their uniform and tennis shoes. They will need to bring a sack lunch, unless you have ordered one from the school cafeteria. Students do not need to bring backpacks, but may bring a sweater.
This Friday is Halloween and we will be participating in the school's costume parade. Students may also enter pumpkins for the pumpkin carving viewing that day as well. Pumpkins must be brought and taken home on Friday. Costumes for Halloween must be brought to school in a bag (not lose in a backpack). Masks, makeup, and weapons are not allowed. Students must be able to put their costumes on over their school clothes, without the assistance from an adult. Parents are welcome to view and participate as well. You may take your child afterwards, but you must sign them out in the classroom. The parade will start at 1:15. If you would like to send goodies for your child to pass out, please keep in mind that some students may have allergies. Please do not sent baked goods. If you do not want your child to participate, please let me know so that I may make arrangements.
I have sent home the directions for the Unit 2 project. Students will be researching a business or service that is part of a community. They will be writing a paragraph about the service and creating a model. The model will be of just the business or service, not a whole community. Please read over the whole packet so that you are aware of all parts of the project. Let me know if you have questions or need basic supplies for the model. Proposals for the project are due this Tuesday. The project is due December 1. Models should be able to fit on a table top, here are a few examples of some projects last year that received a grade of 4:
