This week is a pretty regular week with not a whole lot of extra activities are planned. We continue to learn longer multiplication with 2 digits by one digit. I know that some of the methods I have been teaching are foreign to you, but the students need to understand the concept behind multiplication, as well as different strategies. These will be tested on the SBAC next semester.
In Language Arts, we are working in groups to do research on a specific CA Native American tribe. This is an integrated unit with Social Studies. Each group needs to use the provided articles and text books, as well as web site (done in class), and another book. Our library does not have much information, so if you can take your child to the public library for a book, it will be of great help to them and their group.
Next week, we will be doing our Pumpkin Math activity. Thank you to those who are willing to come help. Students may start bringing their pumpkins to school, they should be about basketball size, no pie pumpkins.
I had a blast at NASA Night creating catapults and launching objects. I was excited to see so many faces from our class. I hope you had a good time as well and got to do as many things as possible, and learned something along the way.
