Students need to be at school on time, testing will start promptly at 8:30. It is important that they get a good night's sleep, at least 8 hours. If your child eats breakfast at home, be sure to have something with protein. Complex carbohydrates and sugars, as well as oily chips and things loaded with a lot of chemicals are not good brain food. After school, allow your child time to play outside. Exercise and fresh air have been shown to improve brain performance. I am not assigning any homework this week. Students may show signs of irritation, tiredness, or no change at all. Try to be understanding that they have put their minds through a marathon and may need rest, a snack, or time alone.
This week in Science we will be dissecting flowers. Students need to bring in a flower on Thursday. Roses, carnations, daisies, and calla lilies are not good flowers to show the parts, these are not considered "complete" flowers. Other lilies, hibiscus, paper whites, and petunias are good examples of what to bring in.
Friday, low grade notices will be going home. If you would like a conference, please put down your preference on days and times. There are a lot of meetings going on after school lately, so I will need several choices from you.
